Google has some detailed on how and why they made this Doodle at the Google Doodle archive. It took a whole 20 minutes to make two revolutions and carried about 38,000 passengers daily at that fair. It held 36 passenger cars, each fitted with 40 revolving chairs and able to accommodate up to 60 people, so the wheel fit a total of 2,160 people. He invented the Ferris Wheel in Jor so and it was the main attraction at the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago, Illinois.
